Accessibility and usability barriers
The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist.
Application and event registration workflows are inaccessible via keyboard and screen reader
Users navigating via keyboard or screen reader may not be able to place focus within essential content areas. Some affected areas include popup windows for applying for positions within the Handshake platform and the content cards on the Events page where users can register for events.
Lack of status updates creates barriers to information discovery
Throughout the platform, many interactions such as entering search terms, toggling filter options, and loading new content or pages do not communicate a status update via screen reader, which can make navigation and discovering information difficult.
Viewport becomes crowded at high magnification levels
When the browser is magnified above 250%, the navigation bar can crowd the viewport and make it difficult to view page content.
