Accessibility and usability barriers

The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist.

Some content is inaccessible via keyboard or screen reader navigation

Some of the content in the interactive map components is not accessible via keyboard navigation. That means that keyboard users cannot place focus on elements to interact with them, and screen reader users will never be alerted of the presence of those elements. If there are data points in the map, the content owner should provide data tables including that information to support screen reader and keyboard users.

Maps occasionally scroll unexpectedly when navigated via keyboard

If a user is using a keyboard to access the slider feature on a map, the map will sometimes unexpectedly scroll as the user moves the slider. Often, moving the slider back and forth will eventually re-synch the scrolling.
