Jessica Arrigoni, Researcher, Wisconsin Center for Education Research/Wisconsin Evaluation Collaborative
I am incredibly interested in representing the continually growing numbers of academic staff who work at WCER. I have worked within WCER for 17 years and have experienced the culture, climate, and needs before and after COVID; as well as under different Center Directors and School Deans. During my time at WCER I have also served on the All-Staff Advisory Committee (ASAC) and was part of ASAC when we implemented the first, now annual, WCER all-staff conference. I would love the opportunity to learn more from my WCER and SoE colleagues and work to address their needs.
Kristin Dalby, Graduate Program Manager, Educational Policy Studies
Having settled into my position in the School of Education (SoE), I am now eager to collaborate with other academic staff across the division, working to advocate for academic staff and keep academic staff colleagues informed and engaged in shared governance. In particular, I'm interested in working with the Dean's Office and colleagues to identify ways to collaborate more effectively across the division, build community, and facilitate communication. I believe wholeheartedly in shared governance and served from 2018-2022 on the Immigration and International Issues Committee. After taking a few years off of shared governance service to focus on my role in Educational Policy Studies and get to know the SoE, I am ready to step back into a role more directly related to shared governance. I hope you will consider my nomination. Please let me know if you need anything else.
Michael Dixon, Undergraduate and Event Coordinator, Educational Policy Studies
I'm very curious about the inner-workings of the School of Education and how we go about best supporting academic staff, addressing their concerns/issues, and enacting change that fosters a healthier, collaborative community. I want to learn more about academic workers’ functions/goals within the system, and how those functions/goals align with SoE’s. Being on this committee would help me understand the complexities of the School of Education (and how it compares to other places), support me in my professional development, and allow me to potentially create positive change, whether that’s big or small.
Erin Edgington, Math Education Teaching Faculty, Teacher Education
I was involved in governance previously, serving as chair on committees for rank/salary/advancement.
Roger Hartwell, Marketing Associate Director, Communications & Advancement
I'm interested in serving on the School of Education CASI because it would allow me to raise concerns for academic staff. I've enjoyed my time working for the School of Education, but I understand we are navigating an unusual time in higher education, and changes will be needed. It's crucial during times of change that staff's voices are heard, and I want to help ensure that happens to keep the School of Education a great place to work.
Justin Kotoris, Administrative Manager, Wisconsin Center for Education Research
As a member of the Academic Staff for five years, including many within the School of Education, I’m passionate about bringing diverse staff perspectives into dialogue with SoE leadership. My previous work with SoE leadership and current role at WCER during a time of change give me insight into staff needs. As a newly elected member of the campus Professional Development and Recognition Committee, I’m also well-positioned to share lessons learned and align efforts between committees to support staff development, recognition, and inclusion.

Taking an opportunity to learn from others in order to better serve my learning community.
Bailey Smolarek, Reseacher II, Wisconsin Center for Education Research
I care deeply about SoE and want to help improve it. I have been a part of C&I, WCER, and EPS.
Julie Stamm, Clinical Assistant Professor, Kinesiology
I teach large-enrollment health courses, & I want to support & advocate for fellow SoE acad. staff.
Ella Tschopik, IT Help Desk Supervisor, MERIT
I would like to share my skill sets with the School of Education by serving on the CASI
Jamie Welling, Associate Director, Global Engagement Office
I feel I could represent my SoE colleagues well by providing a voice for cross-departmental issues, concerns, and constructive feedback for the school, while also working on ways to showcase the great work being done. In my role, I am lucky to serve the entire SoE community, so I hear from colleagues across the entire school at all levels. A few areas that will likely need more Academic Staff input in the next couple of years are:
- the SoE’s strategic plan,
- the new campus budget model, and
- creating more working groups with people in functional roles for better cross-school collaboration.
