Issue of sustainability is critical for whatever the communications committee takes on this year as capacity is limited in the secretaries office

Action Items from discussion:

Mark – will review inside UW Wisconsin weekly to identify what articles are out there about academic staff. He will send them to the team to view and determine what we may want to send to Donna to tag and put up on the AS site. ( We will want to streamline this a bit more and can discuss at our October mtg).

Team – Find what other communication sources are out there that we may want to review for articles on academic staff as well

Alice will talk to Donna – about her capacity to load articles on the web and for an analytical counter for the number of times the articles are viewed

MEETING TIME FOR FIRST SEMESTER:

Monthly meeting time – 2nd Friday of the month from 11-12 in room 2180 at Mechanical Engineering  (Oct 14th and Nov 11th) HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE in December we need to meet the 3rd Friday of the month Dec 16th. All of our meetings are schedule to follow the Academic Staff Assembly Meetings the 2nd Monday of the month.

2.)    Update from Academic Staff/ASEC Annual Planning Meeting that Alice and Greg attended on 8/25 (Continued from 8/26 meeting).  

3.)   Start discussing goals, priorities, and focus of committee for this upcoming academic year.    Use following items as benchmarks to guide discussion:

            A.)  ASEC and Standing Committee Annual Planning Meeting from August 25

**Items from the planning meeting (see handout) will be discussed in small groups at Academic Staff Assembly Meeting on Monday, October 10, 2011, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in 272 Bascom.   All are welcome/encouraged to attend this meeting.    

                                    **Proposed help from English 317/317 Writing in Workplaces

B.) Ideas for projects that our committee proposes, as well.    (See summary of additional communications items that have surfaced.)
