WPM CASI Election Statements
Over the past year, I have been so grateful to participate in shaping the CASI for WPM and helping to lead it as the co-chair. I believe that I still have a lot of good work to come, and I hope that I will be able to see it through. In the coming year, my primary focus will be continuing to serve on the ethics and editorial guideline bridge panel, increase the relationship between CASI and Change Team to help serve leadership and guide towards a reevaluation of our total ethics and DE(A)I policies, and continue to represent all WPM staff in leadership discussions.
I’d like to nominate Madeline Fox to the Wisconsin Public Media CASI. Maddy would be an excellent addition to the committee. She could bring a perspective from the Milwaukee bureau for radio which is not currently represented on the committee. She’s a crucial member of the news department and could be a great voice for content on the radio side. She can also bring a reporter/content creator perspective to the panel. Maddy is passionate about WPM and she brings great ideas to the table.
Hi! My name is Christie Mole, and I’m a Member Drive Specialist at Wisconsin Public Radio. I joined WPR in October 2018 as the Membership Coordinator, and transitioned to the member drive team in May 2019. I’m excited about the work that the CASI has started in its first year and would enjoy the opportunity to add to its momentum. I believe that having a consistent, on-going space for WPM/PBS Wisconsin/WPR staff and the WPM Director (and other leadership) to discuss urgent and/or important issues is critical for the success of our staff and our organizations. I try to approach my work with curiosity, transparency, and with an emphasis on communication and equity, and would bring these values to my work on the CASI.
I’m Joy Ratchkramer, an Outreach Specialist based in Wausau. I produce the central region’s “Route 51” weekly talk show, and I am passionate about regional diversity and reflecting north-central Wisconsin’s culture, interests and priorities to WPR. I live in Stevens Point and am the mother of a two-year-old.
I’d like to serve on the CASI to represent the following groups:
- Regional staff located outside of Madison, especially the bureaus that serve primarily rural listeners
- Part-time staff, whose schedules and time constraints present unique challenges
- Staff who are parents and guardians, especially of young children
- Outreach Specialists, entry-level staff and other staff who have lots of ideas, but little decision-making authority, to help ensure that our voices are heard
