This document will demonstrate how to search for key words across Salesforce objects.
Accompanying demonstration video
- Find the search bar at the top of your Salesforce screen.
- Place your cursor in the search bar and type in your key word(s).
- Optional: Click on the down arrow that appears on the left, next to Search: All and select one object in which to search. Alternately, keep the search set to All.
- Enter Return on your keyboard.
- If you searched All, results across Salesforce objects will display in a menu on the left. The first five results in each object will be displayed in the main frame to the right of the Search results menu. Click on an object in either the menu or the main frame to display more search results within that object.
- If you limited your search to a specific object, or if you searched All and then clicked on a specific object within the results, you will arrive at an object's search results page. A list view of the results can be found in the main frame of your screen and can be sorted by any of the columns within the list view. On the left of your screen is the Search Results menu with a Refine By tile where you can further limit your search results.
