How to Modify Chatter Email Settings

This document will demonstrate how to check and modify email settings for Salesforce Chatter messages.

We may not be actively checking for Chatter messages in Salesforce. Fortunately, Chatter messages can be sent as emails to our Outlook inboxes. To ensure that you receive these messages in a timely manner we recommend that you check your Chatter settings.

  1. In the upper right corner of Salesforce you’ll see a circle with either an animal or your picture. This is your profile. Access settings by clicking on your profile and then clicking on Settings.

  2. You’ll see the settings menu on the left. Open the Chatter section and click on Email Notifications.

  3. Within Chatter Settings ensure that you have checked Receive emails and then checked the types of communication you’d like to receive by email. I’ve highlighted the two most important: Comments on my posts and Mentions me in a post in the image below.

  4. Click save when you’ve finished updating your Chatter email preferences.
