Employee-ish Groups

General notes:

• Job is a specific thing in HRS. It is sometimes referred to as a position or an appointment, although there are technical differences in how those things work inside the HR system. Jobs do not include Affiliates because affiliates are not UW employees.
• Emerita or Emeritus are honorary titles that are given to people who have provided significant service to the University. They are entered in HRS as a POI record, which is not a job.
• Affiliates is a broad term used to refer to any of a wide variety of often "employee-ish" people who are on campus who do not actually work for UW (for example, WARF, Morgridge Institute, UW Foundation, UW Health, UW Medical Foundation, USDA, Emerita, Consultants, and many more). Affiliates may come from a variety of source systems including POI records in HRS, Special Populations (defined by Manifest Groups), Legacy Special Authorizations, and others.

Specific Groups

Current Paid Madison Job and Future Paid Madison Job

Contains people who have a Current or Future (respectively) Job at UW-Madison that is paid (the Pay Basis is not N). This includes student hourlies, LTEs and so-forth. This does not include:

• Unpaid positions, usually including: Honorary titles ("Honorary Fellow" for example) or positional titles ("Department Chair") (unless they are paid!)
• "Affiliates" like (for example) WARF, Morgridge, UW Health, or Wisconsin Historical Society, as they are not UW-Madison employees.
• Emeritus, Consultant, Extension Affiliate, and other "Person of Interest" records from HRS, as they are not actually jobs in HRS..

Note that if people have both a paid and unpaid job, they will be in this group.

UW Madison Employees Except Student Help and UW Madison Employees Except Student Help - Future Dated

People with Current and Future (respectively) jobs at UW-Madison, except if the job is a student job. This includes paid and unpaid jobs.
