AIMS Customers

  • Business Services (BusSvc)
    • Accounting Services - Serves as the Financial Services function for UW-Madison. 
    • Bursar’s Office - Provides tuition collection and student loan services.
    • Internal Controls - Safeguard University assets, ensure the reliability and integrity of financial information, ensure compliance, and promote efficient and effective operations.
    • Materials Distribution Services (MDS) - Provides redistribution and storage services. 
    • Purchasing Services - Provides professional procurement services.
    • Risk Management & Workers’ Compensation - Serves as the insurance office for UW-Madison, including Property, Liability and Worker's Compensation. 
    • Shop@UW - Provides e-commerce ordering for purchasing contracts. 
    • SWAP (Surplus with a Purpose) - Promotes the sale, reuse, and environmentally-friendly disposal of the State's surplus property.
  • Division of Continuing Studies (DCS)
    • Continuing Studies’ 150 staff and faculty provide leadership, administrative oversight, program development, and marketing support for UW–Madison’s noncredit offerings. In addition, we teach and direct hundreds of programs and courses that address the professional development and personal enrichment needs of face-to-face and online learners. Continuing Studies also advises and admits people enrolled in certain credit or capstone programs, as well as adults pursuing undergraduate degrees.
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)
    • We focus on fostering leadership and creating engineering solutions for energy, health, information technology, nanotechnology, and security. The department’s research and instructional expertise is particularly strong in six strategic impact areas: energy, health and bio-engineering, computing and information, nanotechnology, security, and fostering tomorrow’s leaders. Our research activities within these impact areas concentrate in four subdisciplines: computer engineering, applied physics, systems, and power engineering.
  • Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M)
    • Facility Planning & Delivery
      • Campus Planning – leads UW-Madison’s long-range physical planning and landscape architecture activities, including development of the Campus Master Plan. Other stewardship includes managing the Lakeshore Nature Preserve; supporting historic and cultural resources; and addressing facility ADA issues. Campus Planning also liaisons with municipal government agencies and adjacent neighborhoods.
      • Capital Planning – is responsible for developing the biennial capital budget. It produces reliable budgets for capital project costs aligned with proposed building programs, work scopes, and timelines. Capital Planning reconciles the limits and guidelines for project funding in the State of Wisconsin, the UW System Administration, and the UW-Madison gift/grant program.
      • Project Design and Delivery – represents the university and serves as the project managers for the design and delivery of new facilities, additions, utility improvements, and large-scale remodeling projects, including management of all major university gift/grant-funded facilities projects. This group is also charged with maintaining campus design standards and delivering projects on time and on budget.
      • Space Management and Real Estate – oversees the planning and assignment of physical spaces in support of the University’s teaching, research, and outreach mission. This group manages space allocation, analyzes usage data to promote optimal usage of campus spaces, manages real estate and lease transactions, and supports multimedia classroom technology. o
    • Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
      • Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) provides guidance, technical consultations, and expertise to the campus community in the areas of biological, chemical, environmental, engineering, radiation, and fire safety. Environmental and Occupational Health will be transferred to FP&M in FY20 from UHS and provides the additional services of food safety, water and air quality, occupational health, and associated services.
    • Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor - The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor provides administrative support services to all FP&M units in the areas of budget and finance, full-service business operations and purchasing, human resources, and communications.
    • Physical Plant - Physical Plant is the largest FP&M organizational unit and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of campus buildings, grounds, and utilities. Design resources, construction by the trades, and specialized facilities services are available for departmental requests and remodeling projects on a fee-for-service basis. o
    • Sustainability - The Office of Sustainability is newly formed within FP&M and aligns research and education on sustainability with campus operations in the service of environmental, economic, and social responsibility to people and the planet.
    • Transportation Services - Transportation Services is an auxiliary operation that is self-funded through parking revenues and is responsible for the coordination and administration of all parking and transportation-related services for the campus community, including parking permits, lot operations and enforcement, fleet services, transportation planning, and the development of multi-modal transportation options. 
  • Graduate School
    • The University of Wisconsin–Madison Graduate School sets university-wide standards and policies for graduate education, serves a special advocacy and communication role, promotes diversity initiatives, and otherwise augments the margin of excellence. • International Division - The International Division leads efforts at the University of Wisconsin–Madison to cultivate international scholarship and engagement, promote global awareness, and prepare students for a diverse and interconnected world. 
  • Office of Corporate Relations (OCR) or Office of Business Engagement (OBE) 
    • The Office of Business Engagement (formerly the Office of Corporate Relations) connects business and industry with the resources they need to advance their businesses. Our new name is a restatement of the university’s proud 15-year commitment to help facilitate seamless access across the university community. Our team will work closely with you to understand relevant interests and needs, to bring together contacts and experts from across campus and to develop strategies for a successful business relationship. 
  • Office of Equity and Diversity (OED) 
    • The Office for Equity and Diversity (OED), a unit within the Division of Diversity, Equity, & Educational Achievement, promotes, integrates and transfers equity and diversity principles to nurture human resources and advance the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The OED employs multiple approaches to attain its strategic objectives.

  • Office of Legal Affairs (OLA)
    • Welcome to the Office of Legal Affairs. OLA supports the University’s mission by providing professional, timely and knowledgeable legal advice and representation on the wide range of complex and highly-specialized legal issues affecting institutions of higher education. Through outreach and training activities and regular interaction with University administrators, faculty and staff, we strive to increase awareness of legal issues on campus in an effort to prevent problems and help clients sharpen their own objectives and strategies. We look forward to working with you.

  • Recreational Sports (RecWell)
    • The mission of the Division of Recreational Sports is to enhance the UW-Madison experience by providing excellent programs, services, and facilities that promote and inspire the social, mental, and physical wellbeing of the campus community. 
  • University Housing
    • Operates nineteen residence halls across the UW-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,400 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities serving about 3,000 graduate students, students with families, postdoctoral researchers, academic staff, and faculty. In addition, we manage seven dining locations around campus and provide housing throughout the summer for conference groups and youth camps.  For the resident halls: each room has a wifi access point called a HAP.  Residents who live in housing (both residence halls and university apartments) should be contacting the DoIT Help Desk for technology or cable TV related issues. 
  • University Health Services (UHS)
    • University Health Services (UHS) is the UW-Madison student health center. For more than 100 years, our physicians, nurses, psychologists, and counselors have offered high-quality health care and wellness services that are culturally respectful, fiscally responsible, and developmentally appropriate to student needs. With more than 100,000 student visits each year, our integrated care model promotes and protects the health of our campus community so that students benefit from them whether or not they ever receive care at UHS.  This is a HIPAA environment. 
  • UW E-Business Consortium (UW-EBC)
    • Since 1998, the UWEBC has brought together executives, managers and senior practitioners from leading Wisconsin companies to learn from each other. Three Wisconsin governors have recognized the UWEBC as a model of university-industry collaboration advancing the competitiveness of Wisconsin business and the health of Wisconsin's economy. 
  • Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA)
    • Administrative Information Management Services (AIMS) - AIMS provides consolidated IT services to support the VCFA departments/divisions. AIMS, which serves as a complement to the Division of Information Technology, drives efficiencies through the use of shared infrastructure and talent.
    • Auxiliary Operations Analysis (AOA) – AOA coordinates and directs budget preparation and analysis for all self-supporting campus operations.
    • Business Services – Business Services offers a broad range of services and transaction processing to campus, including accounting, internal auditing, risk management, purchasing, materials distribution and surplus property management, and tuition and student loan services. o Facilities Planning & Management - FP&M oversees the physical development, construction, maintenance and safe operation of the UW-Madison campus. FP&M provides a full spectrum of facilities management services, including planning and managing university buildings, landscape architecture, transportation services and environmental and safety compliance.
    • Human Resources - OHR manages all aspects of employee services, including payroll, benefits and professional development. OHR develops campus human resources policy, designs and administers campus-wide personnel systems and consults on human resources issues.
    • Madison Budget Office - The Budget Office is responsible for the development, management and conduct of UW-Madison’s annual operating budget process involving state, auxiliary, federal and other funds.
    • University Housing - University Housing manages campus residence halls, apartments and numerous food service operations. Housing also enhances the student experience through academic connections and out-of-class education.
    • University Police Department - UW-Madison police are responsible for safety, security and law enforcement on campus. The department employs crime prevention and safety initiatives through proactive education and awareness while responding to community needs. 
  • Wisconsin Union
    • The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.
