Union - Add Network Printer
To access the Union print server and queues, the computer must be on the wired LAN at the Unions, or on Eduroam and connected to VPN. Union/AD users on the wired LAN at Pyle Ctr. can access the AIMS print server and queues. For them, same as below, except the server is "\\aims-prt-01.aims.wisc.edu".
To add a printer for a Union customer's PC, launch the "Run" dialog either by pressing "Windows Key + R", or by right clicking on the "Start" button, then clicking "Run". In the "Run" dialog box, type in the Union print server name - "\\aims-ps-01\" or, if needed, "\\aims-ps-01.ad.wisc.edu\" - then click "OK". You can also reach the list by opening File Explorer and putting the server path in the title bar.
- This will open a folder with all the Union printers. Right click on the one you want to add and select “Open”
- It will take a minute or so, then show as “Connecting”. You may be prompted to trust the printer; Click “Install driver”
- Once the driver and the printer are installed, it will open the queue.
- You can close that window. The printer should be ready for use.
Macs will have a list of WIUN computers in the "Add Printer" dialog if they're on the wired LAN. You will need to download and install a Mac driver for the specific printer in order to use all of its functions. Generic Mac drivers may work for simple printing.
