UW-Madison Box (Web) - Logging In
- Go to Box.
- Click on Continue.
- You will be taken to a NetID login page; login with your NetID and password.
- Authenticate your NetID.
- After logging in successfully, you will see your UW-Madison Box account.

If you receive an error message when attempting to log in, it may be that you are not eligible for the UW Madison Box Service. UW Madison's Enterprise Box Service is available only to active UW-Madison students, faculty and staff with a UW Madison Microsoft 365 email account. Microsoft 365 service accounts are not eligible to access the UW-Madison Box service and are not supported. For more information see Microsoft 365 - Applications that Microsoft 365 service accounts can access using NetID login.

SupportUsing an M365 service account to log into UW-Madison Box is not supported. Please do not escalate calls from individuals who can not log into UW-Madison Box with a service account.
If the caller needs to recover data from a deactivated UW-Madison Box service account or Project Directory, please escalate to the UW-Madison Box queue.
BackgroundPrior to January 2018, any individual with a NetID was able to provision a UW-Madison Box account. This also allowed M365 Service Accounts to provision Box accounts even though this was an unsupported means of accessing the service. In January of 2018 the UW Madison Box Service began enforcing NetID eligibility using Manifest. This change prevents ineligible NetIDs from provisioning accounts and also disabled the ability for new M365 Service Accounts to access Box.
UW-Madison Box service accounts created before January 2018 are still accessible, but will be subject to deactivation if they are not in use.
If an individual calls stating that they are unable to access UW-Madison Box using an M365 service account, please inform them that these type of accounts are not supported.
