Users created using Manifest
Help Desk agents can use the Manifest lookup tool to see if the customer's NetID was created using Manifest (i.e. the NetID was "given" to someone, so there is no Campus ID is associated with it). These users are typically given a NetID so that they can to participate in research or non-credit coursework.
This is crucial when in determining if a person is a "special user" who does not have a Campus ID, versus a typical user who will need to go to the WisCard office to receive the number. Special users have a different password reset policy due to this.
Under etc you may see the NetIDs Created by Invitation group, which indicates they are a special user enrolled in an online course or training through UW-Madison.
