Student Bus Pass / ASM
In order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection for everyone, there will be no in-person bus pass distribution for UW-Madison students this fall.
Fall 2020 ASM Bus Passes will be mailed via the US Postal Service to eligible UW Madison students who place an order. Make sure you are registered for classes and then order your ASM Bus Pass at https://go.wisc.edu/asmbuspassform
Madison Metro will resume collecting bus fares and requiring bus passes on Tuesday, September 1. However, since pass distribution has been delayed by the move to online ordering, you may use your WisCard as a flash pass to board Metro Transit. This will continue until we feel confident that most students who want one have received their pass in the mail.
As a reminder, the Route 80 buses are always free and don’t require passes. If you are a returning student who still has your bus pass from the spring semester, your spring/summer bus pass is valid through September 4.
Once you receive your pass in the mail, please use it. We anticipate ending the use of WisCards as passes sometime around the end of September.
This program is not free. It is paid for by UW Madison students who are charged student segregated fees. That means you must be registered for classes for academic credit at UW Madison. Senior guest auditors, researchers, visitors and faculty and staff are not eligible for a student bus pass. We will be checking the eligibility of applicants for ASM Student Bus Passes before mailing them to applicants.
Faculty and Staff at UW Madison should contact UW Transportation Services to order a pass through that program. Employees of the Hospital and other affiliated institutions should follow the instructions provided by their employer. Visiting scholars, researchers and other guests should contact the administrators or human resource officers of the department or program that brought them to campus.
Masks are required on all Metro Transit Buses, and at this time, passenger capacity is limited to 20 people per bus. Routes and schedules have been modified, so please plan ahead and take possible delays into account.
