ASM Approves Two Bylaw Modernization Measures
MADISON, WI — On Wednesday, the ASM Student Council adopted two bylaw modernization measures regarding the Student Judiciary and internal leadership position election orders.
The first measure, proposed by Student Judiciary Chief Justice Ellen Stojak, updated bylaw language to reflect current organizational practices and added gender-neutral language. The second measure, proposed by Legislative Affairs Chair MGR Govindarajan, reordered ASM internal leadership position election orders between the first two meetings of each ASM session to streamline the election procedure. Both measures are now officially adopted and will be promptly updated in the ASM constitution.
ASM also took the first of two votes on a bylaws edit for meeting proceedings on Wednesday. The “Standard Order of Business Change” legislation, introduced by Student Council Representative Aerin Leigh Lammers, would move regular chair reports to the end of Student Council meetings to encourage more active participation and debate on future legislation.
The next Student Council meeting will be on Wednesday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearing Room on the 4th Floor of the Student Activity Center at 333 East Campus Mall.
