Student Council assembles for first meeting of spring semester

MADISON, Wis. — Student Council met Wednesday night to discuss internal budget alterations and committee bylaw changes.

First on the agenda was legislation moving $65,000 from Event Grants to Travel Grants in order to accommodate the needs of Registered Student Organizations amid higher costs of travel. The legislation was passed. Grants are given by the Grant Allocation Committee.

Second on the agenda was bylaw changes for the Justice, Equity and Belonging committee. These modifications were made to more accurately reflect the current operations of the committee. This legislation also passed. Because bylaw changes require two votes to take effect, there will be an additional upcoming vote.

The next Student Council meeting will be held on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Activity Center Hearing Room on the fourth floor.
