Student Council assembles for the first meeting of the academic year
MADISON, Wis. — Student Council met last Wednesday night to consider a Student Judiciary order concerning a potential re-election of the chair, a proposed code of conduct for the 33rd session and various Shared Governance appointments.
2026 ASM SJ OR. 6 EX. was delivered by the Student Judiciary on Sept. 9 after Representative Michael Harry alleged procedural violations of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised during last spring’s chair election. The matter was placed under Special Orders on the meeting agenda and the council voted on the matter. The motion failed 15-9-2.
The council also considered a proposed code of conduct for the 33rd session. According to ASM bylaws, “each ASM body shall be responsible for establishing a Code of Conduct for individuals present at its meetings.” The council tabled the item to allow members additional time to review the document.
The council approved 15 Shared Governance appointments to committees, including the Dean of Students Advisory Board, Student Misconduct Panel, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Study Group and more.
