UDOIT Accessibility Checker - Overview [UW-Madison]

This document provides information about how to get started with the UDOIT tool in Canvas.

What is UDOIT?

The Universal Design Online Content Inspection Tool, or UDOIT (pronounced, “You Do It”), is a course accessibility checker in Canvas. Instructors and course designers can use it to scan entire Canvas courses to identify and fix accessibility barriers.

Common errors and suggestions are listed on this document from the Universities of Wisconsin. These are also displayed in the UDOIT interface.

Reports

The tool maintains reports as to how many barriers have been identified, how many have been fixed, and how many remain to be addressed.

Use Cases

UDOIT is available in all Canvas courses to find accessibility barriers, which can inhibit students’ experience with the course.
