Accessing the Botany File Server on Windows XP: Connect to Server

Connect to Server

If you choose not to reconnect the share at logon when mapping the drive (see instructions below), you will have to follow these instructions each time you want to access the share.

Click on the Start menu.

Choose My Computer on the right-hand side of the Start Menu.

From the Tools Menu, choose Map Network Drive.

Choose an arbitrary, unused Drive Letter and enter the following into the Folder box:

\\warehouse.botany.wisc.edu\YOUR_SHARE_NAME_HERE

Replace YOUR_SHARE_NAME_HERE with the name of the share you want. If you don't know what share you want, please contact Botany IT.
If you want this share mounted each time that Windows is started, ensure that Reconnect at Logon is checked. If you leave that box unchecked, you will need to manually mount the share each time you want to use it.

Click on the Finish button.

A new window should then open that displays the top-level contents of the share.
