DHCP
DHCP, the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, is used by the Department of Botany to provide IP addresses to computers on the Botany network.
Until March 24, 2011, DHCP was provided by in-house servers. DoIT currently operates the servers the provide the DHCP service on the network. DoIT uses dedicated servers in data centers located in the Computer Sciences and WARF buildings. The servers run the ISC implementation of DHCP to provide client addressing. This service is included in the departmental full-time employee fee.
