Welcome to UW Madison’s Enterprise Box Service. We are excited to be able to offer you Box as a file collaboration service, and hope that you will find it beneficial for your studies and employment. As you log in for the first time, we want you to be aware of some of the rules of the road for usage.
In addition to the terms for computer usage that you agreed to when you activated your NetID, there are some additional terms specific for usage within Box. In addition to the UW Madison Enterprise Box Terms of Use, all users are subject to the Box Terms of Service.
By logging in and using Box, you are also agreeing to the following terms of use:
Personal Box accounts cannot be used to store HIPAA protected data (Protected Health Information, PHI), regardless of whether they were setup through UW-Madison or through a non-campus account. In order for the UW–Madison Enterprise Box Service to be used in a way that is HIPAA compliant, additional controls must be added. Please see the SecureBox IT Service page for more information concerning requirements and how to get started.
In general, UW-Madison Enterprise Box is suitable for sensitive information as long as the appropriate permission controls are in place. You should NOT store restricted data on this service. Please see Data Governance Data Classification for specific data definitions
