Altium has changed their licensing model, and now require users to sign in with an Altium Live account in order to use the software. 

Note, if you have already set up an Altium Live account, please proceed to step 11.

1. Open a web browser and go to https://www.altium.com/education/students
   
   
2. Click on the "Enroll for Free" button
   
   
   
   
3. A pop-up should appear, asking for your email address and Institution to begin verification
   -Enter your NetID@wisc.edu email address and click "Start Verification" 
   
   
   
   
4. You will now be redirected to a page to verify your eligibility. Click Start, then enter "Madison" in the search box, and select "University of Wisconsin-Madison".  You should then be redirected to a UW sign in page, where you will sign in with your NetID and Password.
   
   
   
   
5. You will now need to enter your information to create your account: Enter your First and Last Name, your NetID@wisc.edu email address, phone number, UW's location information, select your UW affiliation, and enter your estimated graduation date.
   
    
   
   
6. Scroll down and check the box to confirm your age and acknowledgment of Altium's Terms and Conditions.  
   
   
   
   
7. Altium's Terms and Conditions will now pop up on your screen.  Read through them, and if you agree to them, click "I Agree"
   
      
   
   
8. Click Submit.  You should now receive an email from Altium to confirm your email address.  In that email, click the "CLICK HERE TO VERIFY YOUR EMAIL" button.
   
   
   
   You should now see a message confirming your email address has been verified:
   
   
   
   
9. Within an hour or two, you should receive a second email from Altium with information on additional services, including information on installing the student version of the software on your personal computer.  You can install this if you wish.  
   
   The important part of this email is the link to activate AltiumLive.  Click on the "Activate AltiumLive" Link.
   
   
10. You will now be taken to a page to create a password and finishing setting up your AltiumLive account.
    
     
    
11. After logging in to a CAE Lab Computer or XenApp, launch Altium.  You should see the License Management page. Click on "Sign in to Altium Account"
    
    
    
    
12. A box telling you to sign in with your browser should pop up.  Click "Sign in"
    
    
    
    
13. A web browser should now open.  Sign in with your AltiumLive account.
    
    
14. Once you're logged in, select the "Altium Designer Professional" license, and click "Use License" on the right side of the screen.
    
     
    
    
15. You should now be able to use Altium Designer as normal
