Connecting Remotely to CAE Linux Machines from Windows with SSVNC
Instructions for remotely connecting from a Windows machine to CAE Linux workstations graphically
-The install files can be found here: http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/ssvnc.html#download
-Download a Windows only .zip file.
-Step 2: Run and Configure SSVNC
-After downloading the .zip file, you'll need to extract the included files. To do so, open the zipped file and click Extract All
- In the "VNC Host:Display" field enter "firstname.lastname@example.org", replacing username with your CAE account name
- Click the "Use SSH" radio button
- Click Connect
-After logging in, you will now have the GUI of a CAE Linux workstation:

VNC sessions are fixed-size. To connect with a different screen size, you can add a VNC display code after the host name to choose a different resolution or color depth. Note that adding a non-default code may negatively affect response time and performance.
(example: connect to best-tux.cae.wisc.edu:73 for a 1280x1024 resolution and 24-bit color)
