Genetics: NuGenius XE guide

This is an imaging machine with an embedded Win10 machine to do the captures. It will be VLAN'ed off once I have time to create the VLAN for that, granting just access to RD and nothing else.

Saving images to Shared Drive

On the NuGenius, I've mapped a network share. When you click the 'Save' button to save your image, you'll see NuGenius under both Quick Access and This PC in the left sidebar - just select that:

Mapped Drive

If you haven't, make a folder for yourself or your lab to temporarily store your images while you are using the machine. This folder is shared with everyone so please move your files out of this directory once you're done capturing them.

Mapping NuGenius share to retrieve your files

The Nugenius machine is set up to store all files in one file share. Please move your files out after you create them - due to how this functions, everyone has access to those files and could potentially delete them, so this directory should not be considered the final home for the data produced. I would also recommend creating a sub-folder for yourself or your lab to use to keep complexity down.

  1. Ensure you're using the Genetics VPN, or are using a wired ethernet connection in the building

  3. Enter the path \\genetics.drive.wisc.edu\genetics\NuGenius and check the 'Connect using different credentials' box:
