[How-To] Use the TV in Conference Room 250

This is a step-by-step guide of connecting a laptop to the AV in CALS conference room 250. It allows you to project your laptop screen onto the TV.
  • (Initial Check) Double-check the TV is plugged into the wall.

  • Power on the TV:
    • Locate the small controller attached to the bottom of the TV screen.

    • Press the power button (the circular button in the middle of the controller with the power symbol).

    • You will hear a starting noise and see the tv turn on with a "No Signal" pop-up, as imaged below. This is normal. In the next step, we will connect the TV to your laptop.

  • Connect your laptop:
    • Locate the dark silver Satechi adapter, usually on the small tray under the TV or on the conference table.
    • Plug each of the three cables from the cords under the table into its respective port, as imaged.
    • Plug the USB-C cord from the Satechi adaptor into your laptop's charging port/USB-C port.

    • If your haven't done so already, turn on your laptop, and you will quickly see your laptop screen now projected on the TV. 

  • Ensure the volume works:
    • Make sure your volume is on for your laptop. 
    • Next, make sure the volume is on for the TV
      • Using the Samsung remote (usually located on the TV tray or the conference table), point the remote at the TV and increase the volume. You should see a blue bar to the left of the screen, indicating increasing/decreasing volume.

Now, everything should be working and you have successfully connected to Rm 250's AV. Yay!!

You can disconnect from the AV by:

  1. Unplugging the USB-C cable from your laptop.
  2. Locating the TV's small controller at the bottom right of it and pressing the center, circular power button.
  3. You will see a menu pop-up. Use your fingers to scroll using that same controller, and select the power button by pressing the center, circular power button again.

  4. You will hear a closing noise, indicating a successful power off!
