Overview:
The CALS Office of Information Technology (CALS IT) provides information technology services to the college. Our services support the administrative, instructional, research, and outreach computing needs of the college and bridge services offered at the department level and the campus level through the Division of Information Technology (DoIT) and other third-party IT providers.
CALS IT provides computing services to the entire college and, in some areas, to other UW-Madison units. These primarily are in support of instructional, research, administrative, and outreach missions. CALS IT works in conjunction with local/departmental IT support. Services provided include six main areas:
- Desktop and User Support: Supports the lifecycle and configuration of desktops, laptops, applications, and printers for CALS administrative units and other contracted units and departments. Provides access management for some CALS applications and IT services. Provides additional operations to support integration with campus services (e.g., O365, Box, WiscList, MFA)
- Instructional Technology Support: Provides technical expertise for academic learning platforms for credit and non-credit learning environments and outreach efforts. This includes managing technical learning spaces such as computer lab classrooms, the InfoLab, and the laptop loaner program.
- Web Services: Provides consulting, design, and configuration of website hosting solutions for CALS departments, units, and outreach.
- Infrastructure Data Management & Cybersecurity: Provides design and configuration of infrastructure solutions for managing research and administrative data. Provides monitoring of some CALS networks, responds to cybersecurity alerts, assists with cybersecurity risk management assessments.
- Administrative Application Development: Design, develop, test, and implement applications for supporting administrative processes relating to human resources, financial management, budgeting, and student information systems.
- Departmental Information Technology Coordination: Contracted services that provide IT support for CALS departments and centers. These services include endpoint and user support, system administration, network administration, data management, cybersecurity, as well as project and program management.
