Office365 (Email & Calendaring Service)

Starting in January 2015, CALSNet customers transitioned from the former WiscMail/WiscMail Plus email/calendaring system to Office365 cloud service. Every faculty, staff and student is given an account with 50gb of storage space. CALS ACS will provision Office365 “Service” accounts for generic department or role-based purposes. These will be in the format email@example.com. We will also create calendar resource accounts for conference rooms, staff calendars and other resources as needed. CALS Administrative Computing Services (ACS) supports Outlook 2013, 2016 as desktop clients in addition to the Outlook web client (OWA). ACS provides very limited support for other email clients or email services.

Accessing your email via the web
Any place you have internet access you can connect to your Office365 account through the OWA web client. You can easily access your Office365 account through the Email widget in the UW-Madison Portal (my.wisc.edu). You’ll see a link for your Office365 account in that module which you can click on and get logged into your account. Alternatively you can access OWA by clicking on the Email/Calendar link on the main UW homepage (https://www.wisc.edu/) or directly at https://email.wisc.edu/.
WISCCHAT (Instant Messaging Service)
WiscChat is an instant messaging service available to any CALSNet customer and enabled for every Office365 account. WiscChat allows you to easily “chat” with other CALS Administration or UW-Madison colleagues by using the desktop client (PSI) or the web client. The web client can be accessed from the WiscChat module in the UW-Madison portal (MyUW). Both the web and desktop clients support group chats. Our customers have found WiscChat to be a very useful internal communication tool. This service is fully supported by ACS. More information can be found at: https://it.wisc.edu/services/wiscchat/
LIST MANAGEMENT SERVICES
CALS ACS maintains numerous distribution lists that you can use for your email communications. You can find a complete listing of these centrally maintained lists at: CALS Email Lists (WiscLists)
If you have a need for a distribution list that doesn’t already exist, please contact ACS.
UW-MADISON G SUITE (formerly GOOGLE APPS)
All CALS Administration netid accounts are enabled for UW-Madison Google Apps. You can log in using your netid at: https://apps.google.wisc.edu. Google Docs, one of the features without Google Apps, allows for real-time document collaboration.
