The error above is usually caused by one of three issues, two of which are on the local workstation.
1. The computer is not on the UW Madison campus network(wired or wireless using UWNet), or connected using WiscVPN. Ensure your computer has internet connectivity and has an IP address within one of the UW-Madison ranges. The license server is not accessible from outside these ranges.
2. If this is the first time starting the software, the installation of Sigmaplot 13 may have not completed correctly. In order for the Sigmaplot 13 software to communicate with the concurrent license server, each user account that will be accessing the software on the local computer must have a specialized .ini file in its profile. Usually, the scripted installer places this file automatically. In certain cases, it fails to do so, and the file must be created and placed manually.
Here are instructions for the .ini file, which is necessary when accessing the SigmaPlot 13 License Manager located on a different subnet:
Create a separate configuration file to enable SigmaPlot to find the License Manager. Open a text editor (such as notepad or wordpad, not MS Word) and create a file named hasp_107466.ini. The hasp_107466.ini file should contain ONLY the following line:
SERVERADDR = license.software.wisc.edu
Save and place the file on the same machine where SigmaPlot is installed, in the following directory for modern Windows operating systems:
Note: A separate .ini file must be created on the machine for each user of SigmaPlot 13 application.
