This document provides an overview of the OSHA Hearing Conservation Standard and the resources available to reduce the risk of hazardous noise exposure and ensure compliance.
The UW-Madison Environmental & Occupational Health Department (EOH) coordinates compliance for the OSHA Occupational Noise Exposure Standard, OSHA 1910.95. Services offered by EOH include noise monitoring, training coordination, hazard assessments and personal protective equipment consulting. The primary purpose of a hearing conservation program (HCP) is to prevent employees from experiencing occupational noise-induced hearing loss. A HCP is required whenever employee noise exposures equal, or exceed 85 decibels (dB), measured as an 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA).
Training:

- Click on the link above to enroll in the Environmental & Occupational Health Hearing Conservation Training course.
- On the Homepage, click “Noise & Hearing” to open the module and select “Agricultural Stations Hearing Conservation” under Work Units.
