Picnic Point, a nearly mile-long peninsula along Lake Mendota's south shore, is among Madison's most distinctive features. It was acquired in two parcels, on 3/27/39 and 7/3/41. Total area equals 128.9 acres.

UW News release 'Picnic Point: Nicer Than Ever' by David Tenenbaum, March 14, 2012, describes recent changes to the Point.
