Discipline or Dismissal
The UW Child Development Lab follows the University’s Academic Staff Policies and Procedures for discipline or dismissal in cases of unsatisfactory performance or misconduct. Behaviors that may result in disciplinary action or termination include frequent absenteeism, inability to perform job tasks, poor performance evaluations, confidentiality violations, failure to ensure children's health and safety, repeated policy violations, lack of responsiveness to program participants, inappropriate child discipline, criminal convictions, and falsification of staff records. These policies ensure accountability and uphold the standards of care and professionalism at the CDL.

- Frequent absenteeism or non-performance or inability to perform tasks of the job as outlined in the job description.
- Continuing poor performance evaluations.
- Violation of confidentiality.
- Failure to adopt practices to ensure the health and safety of children at all times.
- Continued violation of work-related rules and policies established
- Continued lack of responsiveness and sensitivity to program participants.
- Inappropriate discipline of a child
- Conviction of child abuse or other crimes
- Falsification of information on staff record forms
