Welcome

On behalf of our Child Development Lab school family, I’d like to welcome you to our center. We take great pride in our school and in the many ways we serve our community and proudly are a service to families as we serve young children. Often the families we provide care for are University of Wisconsin students and staff.

The Child Development Lab is also a part of the School of Human Ecology and a laboratory school where we pave the way with learning opportunities for UW Students as well as provide a space for research. We strive for excellence and provide high quality care with our anti-bias and Inquiry curriculum in our classrooms.

This handbook is designed to inform about the inner workings of our school, the guidelines of how we work through our policies and procedures and be a resource for more information about your place at the UW. These policies, procedures, and operations of the school are reviewed annually and as changes arise through licensing or accreditation by the Director with the recommendations of the Parent Advisory Committee, the Leadership Team, the Administration Team, and Reflective Practice groups that meet regularly.²
