How to process job applications

How to process an application received in the newstudent e-mail account

STOP:  If you are applying for another position within CFYE, do NOT process or read any applications, let your supervisor know you plan to apply.

When you receive an e-mail in the newstudent account for CFYE job applications, please follow these steps:

Print out the e-mail and all attachments

  1. Go to soar.wisc.edu
  2. Click on SOAR Staff tab, and then System Constants option on the left hand menu
  3. Click on Manage SOAR Jobs and Applications
  4. Click on View Applicants for the position the candidate applied for.
  5. Find the name of the applicant whose information you have just printed off and click View. The individual’s application should appear on the screen.
  6. Print the application screen
Staple the application together in this order:
  1. Application Screen printout
  2. Cover letter
  3. Résumé 
  4. Any additional documents
Put printed materials in the Job Applications Binder in alphabetical order under the correct position tab.
Send a e-mail to applicant: 
  1. Select correct e-mail from the newstudent account Template Folder. 
  2. Send reply to the email applicant listed on the application
  3. Fill in the applicant's name before emailing.
  4. Write e-mailed on the top page of the application packet 
Move e-mail received from applicant to the YEAR -> Applications folder in Thunderbird.  Write archived on the top page of the application packet.
