Instructions on how to request a new paid student hourly appointment or make a change to a current paid student hourly employee at the Center for Healthy Minds

Workday Request Forms Process

When a student help employee hire or change is needed, the request is completed in Workday.

Overview

The following walks through the “Workday Request” process step-by-step in Workday to request the hire or change to a paid student hourly employee.

  • Lisa Wesley, HR Generalist will help facilitate the paid new hires in Workday and process job change requests as needed. 
  • Jane Lambert will continue to oversee the for credit student help appointments. 

The request options you will use are:

  • Request Direct Hire or Add Job
  • Request Change Job (ie: increase in hourly rate, change supervisor)
  • Request Termination or End Job

For questions for paid hourly student help employees, contact the department’s HR Generalist - Lisa Wesley 

Requests submitted by CHM staff will automatically route to the CHM HR Generalist.

Faculty -- Please note if your home department is not with the Center for Healthy the workday process with route your request to your home department. 

  • You may  use one of the following options to complete your request:

    • Ask a CHM employee to submit the request on your behalf — this could be a Research Program Manager/Coordinator, Research Specialist or another staff member within your work unit

    • Send an email with the required information directly to Lisa Wesley for entry and processing

    • Work with Administrative Staff to submit the request on your behalf

 

Workday Request Forms Process

1.  From the Workday home page

Select Menu > under Organization select ‘Requests’

2.  From the Requests page

Under Actions select 'Create Request'

3.  From the Create Request Window 

Select the 'Request Type' from the drop-down > then click 'Ok'

  • Request Change Job
  • Request Direct Hire or Add Job
  • Request Termination or End Job

4.  Fill out the request form with information

Please allow a minimum of 7 business days to allow for processing and new hire orienation scheduling

If the hire requires expedited processing please reach out to the CHM HR Generalist to discuss options

  • Important - please list your students Legal Name, other variations can lead to hiring the wrong student or duplicate entry errors

  • If this is the student's first employment position with UW, please select "NO"

You can do a quick search in Workday to see if the student is currenty employed and view their employee ID
