The deletes of WiscWorld accounts for UW hospital employees started on August 8th and will continue now till it is completed (date unknown at this time).

If someone calls stating they are unhappy about this and have complaints they need to be directed to the Hospital Helpdesk (3-2060). In NTH you will be able to see that their accounts have been turned off when you look them up in the database. You can tell them that it was not a decision of DoIT, but a directive from the Hospital. We are only complying with their wishes and cancelling accounts.

Here is the email that has been sent to Hospital employees about the termination of their WiscWorld accounts.

As previously announced, the hospital will no longer be providing
WiscWorld accounts for employees. These accounts provide access to the
WiscWorld (DoIT) modem pool and @facstaff email addresses. As an
alternative, employees can use the UWHC modem pool and an email address
provided by UWHC or another service. The details of implementing these
alternatives can be found at http://www.hosp.wisc.edu/dialup.

The only exceptions to this change would be employees who have WiscWorld
accounts due to a non-hospital affiliation with the University (students,
UWHC staff who also have campus jobs, etc). Those employees will retain
the rights to those accounts.

By now, all IS department employees should have established access to the
UWHC modem pool and stopped using their @facstaff email accounts.
Accordingly, the WiscWorld accounts listed below are scheduled to be
terminated effective June xx, 2000. If you are on that list and believe
that you qualify as an exception as described above, please email
gj.smulka@hosp.wisc.edu with your justification.

As of June xx, 2000, the users listed below will no longer have access to
the WiscWorld modem pool. Your facstaff email account will be deleted and
any email sent to your @facstaff address will be returned to the sender.
