RESOLVED: Blackboard made configuration changes to their networking infrastructure at 3:15p (8/28) in response to the latency and connectivity issues experienced. They will continue to provide updates regarding the ongoing activity and work towards a final resolution of this problem. Blackboard sent the following message at 8p on Tuesday, August 28. The times listed in the message are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

Over the past two days we have seen an increase in traffic related to the download of our client application. This increased volume of traffic impacted Web Conferencing and Elluminate Live! hosted services on August 27that approximately 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM (GMT-0400 - Eastern Daylight Time).  We also noticed a degradation of service today, August 28th, at around 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM.  Our logs show disruptions lasting less than one minute and up to 15 minutes in other cases.  During these events, users may have experienced latency or timeouts when launching sessions.

This afternoon at 4:15 PM, we addressed the issue within our networking infrastructure by rerouting client download traffic through a separate  firewall to increase resource availability for the client download service.  Over the course of the next few days we will also be testing and implementing additional updates to our infrastructure to further ensure stability.  If these updates require additional downtime, we will make sure to communicate through this particular channel.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.  We apologize for the inconvenience any of these connection issues may have caused and will continually work towards ensuring the continuity of service.
