DoIT will roll out an E-commerce site on Wed. (2/28/01). If you receive calls from customers using the new E-commerce site, please follow the E-Commerce Handling Information.
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28, 2001, DoIT will roll out an E-commerce site. The site will be available from the DoIT Tech Store web page located at: http://techstore.doit.wisc.edu From this site, customers with a valid UW-Madison ID will be able to shop and buy on-line 24 x 7. DoIT Marketing is planning to announce the availability of the site to Tech Partners and then gradually to the campus. Tech Partners are one of Tech Store's biggest customers, so we need to be prepared to take their calls.
If you receive calls from customers using the new DoIT E-commerce site, please follow the E-Commerce Handling Information.
If you have any questions or problems, please see me or your Tlead.
As an FYI...here's a copy of the announcement that will be sent to the Tech Partners:
Now you can shop and buy online anytime, from the DoIT Tech
Store web: http://techstore.doit.wisc.edu
Our new site enables purchases for departments (using UW
Requisitions and Procurement cards) and faculty, staff and
students (using Visa or Mastercard) for personal purchases.
Only those with a valid UW-ID may purchase from the site.
The Tech Store operates much like other e-commerce sites. Simply
browse or search for the item(s) you want, and add them to
your "shopping cart." Your UW ID and purchasing information
is requested when you are ready to "check out." We use SSL to
transmit the credit card number to the appropriate credit card
company during order processing. We do not store your credit
card information in any DoIT database or file.
For now, personal orders may either be shipped within Dane
County, or picked up at the Tech Store at 1210 W. Dayton St.
during regular hours. We are working to expand shipping
options later this year. Department purchases may be shipped
to any location, or picked up at the Store.
An email is sent to the customer to confirm each transaction.
Advice and support is available from the Customer Service
link. Customers may also provide Feedback throughout the site.
We hope our new Store provides greater convenience as you
try to obtain the tech tools needed for your work at the UW.
