Microsoft is replacing Clutter with Focused Inbox, an email management feature, over the next several weeks. Focused Inbox seeks to improve your experience in managing email effectively compared to Clutter.

UW–Madison faculty, staff, and students will gradually see the option to enable Focused Inbox in their mail settings for Outlook on the Web and Outlook 2016 for Windows and Mac. Individuals who would like to use this feature will need to enable it.

While Focused Inbox and Clutter serve the same purpose, their method for handling important messages are different. Clutter moves messages from your inbox folder to another folder called “Clutter.” Focused Inbox keeps your messages in your inbox folder and separates your inbox into two tabs—Focused and Other.
