CSIS Overview
The Continuing Studies Information System, which is referred to as CSIS, is an administrative application that helps units organize their noncredit programs, learners and organizations. This document will give you a high-level overview of the functions.
CSIS Functions
- Creates LMS Spaces - Creates a Canvas shell for the current program in the departments Canvas subaccount.
- Initiates L3 process - takes learners through steps to set up their NetID. If individuals already have a NetID, it will link their NetID to their Canvas class and enroll them.
- Registration Information - CSIS interfaces with the registration system to collect learner registrations and payments.
- Note: Registration system talks to CSIS, but CSIS doesn’t talk to the registration system.
- Reporting: Generate financial and enrollment reports. See CSIS-2 Reports Glossary.
- Financials: Import of relevant accounting data from university financial system to create a profit/loss statement for programs and/or departments.
- Person data management (learners, faculty, staff): Individual data which includes: contact information, biographies, CSIS user permissions, organization relationships, course relationships, marketing preferences merging of individual per records.
- Organization data management (businesses, venues, accommodations): Organization data which includes: contact information, affiliations, person and course relationships, merging of individual organization records.

CSIS Menu
- Curricula/Instances - Homepage showing the list of programs offered.
- Canvas Access - tools used to troubleshoot learner NetID creation and Canvas access issues
- Directory - Repository for staff and instructor full contact information (and biographies), learner contact info and organizations.
- Certificate Programs (Coming Soon) - tracks certificate programs and student status within the certificate.
- Finance Reports - tracks program/class/instance direct costs and revenue. Tracks the instructors and payment amount for each instance they instruct and/or develop.
- General Reports - tracks curricula/instances’ enrollments, fees/revenue, public/private events and marketing lists.
