STEP 1 — REQUEST FOR PARTICIPATION: (Deadline March 9).


STEP 2 — REGISTRATION: >>>>> Closed.
Registration will remain open until May 15 or when a limit of 90 participants have registered.
Fees and dates are as follows:
  • Received by May 4: $150
  • Received after May 4: $200
The registration fee includes:
  • Lodging, Tuesday June 19 check-in to Friday, June 22 check out;
  • Meals: breakfasts (June 20, 21, and 22), lunches (June 20 and 21);
  • Morning and afternoon breaks;
  • Conference proceedings and other printed materials.
  • A (free) copy of a excellent book on Teaching and Learning: How Learning Works - 7 Research-Based Principles for Smart Teaching (which will be use in one of our session on Thursday afternoon.

Cancellation Policy: To be eligible for a refund of conference registration fee, requests must be postmarked (or emailed) on or before the cancellation date described below. All approved refunds will be issued after the conference:
  • Prior to May 18: 50% refund;
  • May 19 and thereafter: No refund.


STEP 3 — HOUSING: >>>>> Closed.
Now that the block of rooms at the Lowell Cter is full, we are compiling our overflow list for the Edgewater Hotel. Please do not call the Edgwater Hotel. We will make the reservation on your behalf. Housing reservation will close May 15.

All participants are responsible for making their own lodging reservations. A block of rooms are reserved at the conference site, Lowell Inn, and a short walking distance away at the nearby Edgewater Hotel (shuttle service available upon request). To accommodate as many as possible at the conference site, we encourage you to consider sharing a room with another participant. Those invited to register will be provided with a roster of invited participants. If you decide to share a room, you can indicate your plan when you make an housing reservation with the Lowell Inn On-line Reservation Service or by calling 866-301-1753 (toll free) using the block room code "Animal". Basic room charge from June 19 to June 22 is being paid for by a USDA-HEC grant and you must reserve your room as indicated above. We ask that you book your own room to ensure your rooming arrangement preference (single / double). You will need to cover any incidentals or parking. The contact information for the Lowell Inn is:

Note: The Lowell Inn does not offer airport-hotel shuttle service. Taxi's are waiting outside the baggage claim area of the Dane County Regional Airport. Taxi fare to the Lowell Center from the Dane County Regional Airport should cost approximatly $20 one way. On-site parking costs $8 per night.

Driving (Directions): Dane County airport: 15 min., Milwaukee: 1.5 hrs, Chicago: 2.5 hrs, Minneapolis/St. Paul: 4.5 hrs.
