Basic Setting Recommendations

The Sony camcorder is reformatted at check-out to reflect the below settings. Students should adjust settings depending on their filming needs. 

• Format: XAVC S-I for short films (maximum detail, large memory usage), XAVC S-L for extended interviews, showcases or general B-Roll.
• Quality: 4K (3840x2160), 8bit, 100M, 29.97p
• Frame Rate/Frequency: 29.97p
• Shutter Speed: 60 (or 1/60)
• Aperture: Set the lens to f/4.0 or f/4.5
• Gain: 0dB (well-lit studio) - +18dB (extreme low light)
• WB: Students should manually set their white balance to the light at the time of filming. 

TIP: In general, beginner students are advised to properly expose images by changing the aperture, rather than the ISO and shutter speed. 

Recommended Use:

It is recommended that the Z200 is used with the MFA DANCE - Heavy Duty Tripod 2 with Fluid Head (Manfrotto)
