Infoblox API access

REST-based API access is available to the Infoblox environment to manage Infoblox objects in a programmatic fashion.

Please contact infoblox@lists.wisc.edu via email to configure access details.

In general, we provision a non-person user (or users) with separate auth that has identical access to your objects.  Access for this non-person user will be further restricted via IP address.

Common use-cases for API access are acme-type integration to automate site certificate generation / domain control validation.

In order to have further guardrails on what an API user can do, for the purposes of certificate renewal, we can provision an API user that can only add or remove TXT records.

REST-API documentation is here:

Please note there is also a perl-API that is available for Infoblox; do NOT use this.  While it is still available it is deprecated by Infoblox and may disappear at any time.
