DNS: Active Directory and Dynamic DNS
Dynamic DNS protocols provide the ability to change, in real time, the active DNS configuration.
Active Directory is a technology created by Microsoft that provides a variety of network services, including:
- LDAP-like directory services
- Authentication
- DNS-based naming and other network information
However, DNS is just a small portion of the Active Directory services offered. The DNS portion might be served by a Microsoft, ISC BIND, or other DNS server.
