Assistant Director - Assessment

Drexel's Center for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning Excellence (CASTLE; drexel.edu/castle) is seeking to hire a Program Manager for Assessment who will have primary responsibility for ensuring that assessment programs are integrated across multiple projects and of the highest possible quality. This individual will be responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating assessment efforts relating to multiple grant initiatives and developing new assessment efforts to study STEM education initiatives at Drexel and CASTLE affiliated institutions. These assessment efforts will include: assessing student learning, program outcomes, instructional effectiveness and retention. This individual must be collaborative in his/her approach so as to understand the purposes, programs and goals of CASTLE and to engage effectively with the CASTLE team and affiliates. The successful candidate must effectively interact with individuals at all levels and in situations will require tact, judgment and integrity.

QualificationsBachelor's degree required in any related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of three years of experience with educational assessment activities. 

Qualifications

2. Ability to work independently with high achievement orientation 
3. Ability to contribute productively as a member of a team with common objectives 
4. Experience with project management 
5. Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse colleagues 
6. Familiarity with reporting, assessment and evaluation software 
7. Knowledge of, and ability to carry out, statistical and data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) 
8. Must appropriately exercise initiative and sound judgment, maintain detailed and accurate files and records and maintain strict confidentiality in all situations  
Essential FunctionsThe CASTLE Assistant Director for Assessment will report directly to the CASTLE Director of Operations, and the position's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: 
1. Developing assessment instruments for the evaluation of STEM courses and educational programs and initiatives. 
2. Coordinating/conducting the collection and analysis of data for reports, publications and to support grant writing 
3. Working with grant program directors to develop, maintain, and conduct assessment activities and plans to allow for effective program evaluation 
4. Facilitate the use of institutional data to support evaluation of CASTLE related programs and initiatives 
5. Representing CASTLE to internal and external constituencies as needed 
6. Providing assistance and support to CASTLE team members and affiliates regarding learning assessment to include help in identifying goals, developing plans, reporting results and assisting in the design of actions based on those results 
7. Providing direction to CASTLE affiliated faculty and staff in developing and planning assessment activities 
8. Studying trends in higher education assessment practice and assessing their viability for adoption 
9. Preparing high-level reports, presentations, proposals, etc. for internal and external consumption 
10. Other duties as assigned
