Associate Director for Integrated Life Sciences Undergraduate Program
The College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS) and the Honors College of the University of Maryland are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director of the Integrated Life Sciences (ILS) Program (www.ils.umd.edu).
Integrated Life Sciences is a living-learning program in the Honors College that is designed for accomplished honors students interested in different disciplines in the life sciences, including biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, and biomedicine. This program offers a unique undergraduate experience, involving a two-year residential program, an honors track of four interdisciplinary science courses, and facilitated opportunities for meaningful research, clinical, and service experiences.
Major duties of the Associate Director include: (1) teaching one of the core courses in the ILS curriculum, (2) managing the day-to-day operations of the program, (3) supervising ILS professional staff, faculty fellows, and teaching assistants, (4) coordinating admissions, recruiting, and orientation, and (5) overseeing internal and external communications.
This appointment is for 12 months at the level of regular, full-time exempt staff. Some evening and weekend work is required. Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline is required and postdoctoral teaching or research experience is preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Anticipated start date: 6/19/2017, in order to ensure some overlap with current associate director.
