MITx Digital Learning Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow

MITx DIGITAL LEARNING POSTOCTORAL TEACHING FELLOW, Biology, to work closely with faculty to develop course curricula for residential and global modules leveraging the edX platform. Will work with educational staff to develop courses that include learning objectives, detailed content outlines, measurable outcomes, interactive activities, engaging video, and thoughtful discussion forums; apply biology knowledge and research experience to teaching; assist in teaching courses in a blended context to students on campus and virtually; serve as the main point of contact/project manager for all assigned courses; develop and launch courses on time, on budget, and to MIT quality standards; actively participate in the MITx Digital Learning Lab program and attend regular cross-departmental MITx Digital Learning Lab meetings; and work with MITx and edX support services on course development issues that arise. May develop and execute educational research studies. Will report to the MITx digital learning scientist.

MITx DIGITAL LEARNING POSTOCTORAL TEACHING FELLOW, Biology,  to work closely with faculty to develop course curricula for residential and global modules leveraging the edX platform.  Will work with educational staff to develop courses that include learning objectives, detailed content outlines, measurable outcomes, interactive activities, engaging video, and thoughtful discussion forums; apply biology knowledge and research experience to teaching; assist in teaching courses in a blended context to students on campus and virtually; serve as the main point of contact/project manager for all assigned courses; develop and launch courses on time, on budget, and to MIT quality standards; actively participate in the MITx Digital Learning Lab program and attend regular cross-departmental MITx Digital Learning Lab meetings; and work with MITx and edX support services on course development issues that arise.  May develop and execute educational research studies.  Will report to the MITx digital learning scientist.

Job Requirements 

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in biology or related field; minimum of two years’ relevant college-level teaching experience, including teaching assistant positions or nontraditional teaching roles; demonstrated knowledge of best practices, current research, and innovations in digital teaching and learning in higher education; strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and within a team; and a desire to learn new skills.  Demonstrated experience in instructional design or course development , experience analyzing large-scale data, and a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget desired.  Familiarity with learning or course management systems (LMSs or CMSs); experience programming in Python, JavaScript, XML, or CSS; and experience using Adobe tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) preferred.  Some experience with video editing software a plus.  Job #14722
