Assistant Professor of Biology

Teach blended lecture/lab introductory biology courses for both majors and non-majors; coordinate course delivery for all sections of these courses, including online materials, course management, and laboratory activities. Assist biology faculty in expanding Vision and Change reforms for both individual courses and departmental curriculum. Supervise collection and analysis of departmental assessment data. Development of an advanced course in the applicant’s field is encouraged. Conduct a research program that involves undergraduate students. Serve as an academic advisor to students enrolled in the Biology Program, and participate in departmental, university and community service.

The Department of Biological Sciences at Salisbury University is accepting applications for the position ofAssistant Professor of Biology.  This is a full-time tenure track position.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: Teach blended lecture/lab introductory biology courses for both majors and non-majors; coordinate course delivery for all sections of these courses, including online materials, course management, and laboratory activities. Assist biology faculty in expanding Vision and Change reforms for both individual courses and departmental curriculum. Supervise collection and analysis of departmental assessment data. Development of an advanced course in the applicant’s field is encouraged. Conduct a research program that involves undergraduate students. Serve as an academic advisor to students enrolled in the Biology Program, and participate in departmental, university and community service.   

  

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. or ABD in Biological Sciences or Biology Education, evidence of potential for excellence in teaching, and scholarly publications in biology education research. Applicants are expected to demonstrate effective verbal communication skills. If ABD, doctoral degree must be completed before date of hire.   

  

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with teaching introductory biology, curriculum development, and with course and/or program assessment. A desire to teach and mentor graduate students would be a plus.
