The director handles supervision, planning, implementation, event management, and recruitment. They train program staff, associate faculty mentors, and affiliated personnel, chair the McNair Advisory Committee, and must possess the interpersonal skills to interact professionally with all internal and external constituents.

Job Summary

Plans and implements event management and student recruitment. Trains program staff, associate faculty mentors and affiliated personnel. Chairs the McNair Advisory Committee. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. degree. Commitment to the goals and mission of the McNair Scholars Program. One year experience working with first-generation, low-income, underrepresented minority students. Supervisory or leadership experience. Potential to work effectively across all levels of the university community. Proficient in word and spreadsheet applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in a STEM discipline. Experience writing and administering grants for an external program. Experience supervising scholarly research publications and presentations. Experience with TRIO programs and academic administration. Knowledge of program assessment principles and tools. Success helping first-generation, low-income, STEM-underrepresented minority students overcome educational barriers. Ability to provide service and leadership to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
