UW Health Citrix Receiver for Mac OS

How to uninstall and re-install Citrix Receiver for Mac OS

General guideline for un-install and re-install of Citrix Receiver when troubleshooting access to UW Health Citrix portal using a Mac OS computer.

It is very important that you use the Citrix Client available from the UW Health portal, other versions are not support. Support for Mac OS based access to the Citrix portal is limited, typically users are encouraged to use Windows OS systems. This document is supplemental to the official support provided directly from the UW Health HelpDesk. Depending on the version of Citrix there are alternate removal methods.

Links to the UW Health Citrix portal and HelpDesk are not listed, you are encouraged to contact your local IT support for assistance.

Alternate 1

  1. Launch the Terminal app from the Utilities folder under Applications.
  2. Type in the following command (do not use “ “): “sudo rm -r” then drag and drop the receiver under applications on the terminal window, it will look like this “yourcomputername:~ yourusername$ sudo rm -r /Applications/Citrix\ Receiver.app” note “yourcomputername and yourusername” will be replaced with that information populated by your computer.
  3. Hit Enter on your keyboard.
  4. You may be prompted to enter your password. Type it in and then hit Enter.
  5. Citrix should now be removed from your Applications folder.
  6. Go to UW Health Citrix login portal, re-download the version available and install.

Alternate 2

You can also uninstall Citrix Workspace app for Mac manually by opening the .dmg file. Select Uninstall Citrix Workspace App and follow the on-screen instructions. The .dmg file is the file that is downloaded from Citrix when installing Citrix Workspace app for Mac for the first time. If the file is no longer on your computer, download the file again from Citrix Downloads to uninstall the application.

Alternate 3

  1. Drag Citrix to the trash
  2. Open Finder and press Shift + Command + G to open the Go to Folder window.
  3. Enter the following file paths in the box in turn and move the related files of Citrix Workspace to Trash.
  • ~/Library/Application Support/com.citrix.receiver.helper
  • ~/Library/Application Support/com.citrix.receiver.nomas
  • ~/Library/Application Support/com.citrix.UninstallReceiver.mac
  • ~/Library/Caches/com.citrix.UninstallReceiver.mac
  • ~/Library/Caches/com.citrix.AuthManagerMac
  • ~/Library/Caches/com.citrix.receiver.helper
