This document details the software Bomgar and how to use it.

Bomgar is an application we use to be able to see and control users computers remotely.

Logging in to BOMGAR

2. Login with your SOE credentials

Telling user how to access the software from their computer
There are two ways a user can start a remote session.  Users on departmental computers set up by us will have a bomgar button on their desktops.  Have users check for the below icon.  If they do not have it follow the steps for accessing bomgar through the website.

Downloading Bomgar from the Website
1. Have the user go to helpdesk.education.wisc.edu in a web browser
2. Tell them to click on our name to download a small file. Note: If the file does not start downloading automatically, have them right click on your name and choose open in new window.

3. Have them open the installation file and click through the prompts

Starting remote control & Screen Sharing

After the customer had clicked through the installation prompts, a new session will pop up in your queue.  Double click on their session.

Once you have clicked on their session you will see the screen below.  You will want to click on Screen Sharing.  This will then send a prompt to the customers computer.  The prompt is just a pop up window that they will have to click allow on.

Controlling the Computer

Once they clicked allow, you will be able to see their screen as shown below.  You will also be able to to control their mouse.  Make sure they are aware that you will be able to move their mouse and communicate with the user what you will be doing while on their computer.  It is best to have them on the phone while you are doing a bomgar session. The user should keep their bomgar window open during the session.  They can x out the window or click stop sharing to end the session and this will remove bomgar from their computers then.

Other items on your bomgar session screen!

A. You can click here to prompt the user to elevate your privileges.  This allows you to install items on users computers along with other things that may need administrator privileges to see.

B. In this box you will see the users computer information.  Also if they have multiple displays, you can click on the displays tab and choose which screen you would like to be looking at.

C.  You can click this red X to the end session when you are finished.
