How to Tell if Your Symantec Client is Managed or Not

Several different methods to tell if your Symantec Endpoint Protection Client is managed or un-managed

Method 1 (simplest):

Step 1) Open your Symantec Endpoint Protection application.  Do this by finding "Symantec Endpoint Protection" in your list of applications or by searching your computer for it.  If you cannot find it, please call 608-265-4773.

Step 2) Under the "Status" Tab, Click on "Help" > "Troubleshooting" in the upper right hand corner

Step 3) In Troubleshooting under the "Management" Tab, look for the "server" field.  If this has an IP/DNS, any other kind of number or is listed as "Offline" then your client is Managed.  If the server field says "Self-managed" then your client is un-managed.

Method 2:

Step 1) Open your Symantec Endpoint Protection application.  Do this by finding "Symantec Endpoint Protection" in your list of applications or by searching your computer for it.  If you cannot find it, please call 608-265-4773.

Step 2) Open the "View Logs" Tab and click on "View Logs" > "System Log" next to "Client Management".

Step 3) Allow a few seconds for the logs to open up.  When they do, search for the summary "Connected to Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager _______"   If you find this summary then your client is Managed.  If not then your client is un-managed.
